Celeste Jay has been employed with the Diocese of Joliet since 1992. She has served as a junior high teacher at St. Thaddeus School in Joliet, St. Rose School in Wilmington, and St. Patrick School in Joliet and St. Paul School in Joliet (2011). Mrs. Jay has predominately taught Math and Science during her service in the Diocese. In addition to her classroom service, Mrs. Jay has worked to develop Diocesan Math and Science curriculum and assessments, as well as moderate the Diocesan Devotional Projects for St. Paul since 2012.
Mrs. Jay’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of St. Francis with an Illinois K-9 Teaching Certificate. She earned a Paramedic License for the State of Illinois (1995-2003) through the Will/Grundy EMS System. With this licensure, Mrs. Jay served as a volunteer (10 years) and full-time (2 years) Paramedic and firefighter for several local agencies. This training and experience was pursued because of an inspiring student!
Her favorite part about teaching is witnessing God’s grace work through each student as they discover the unique treasures God has entrusted them.
Celeste Jay has received the Diocese of Joliet Core Values of Catholic Education Award (2016-2017), The Joliet Chamber of Commerce GREAT Teacher Award (2008), The Golden Apple Foundation for Excellence in Teaching (2008), and Certificates of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate (2008).
