Ms. Katie Larkin began her teaching career at St. Patrick School in Joliet where she taught kindergarten for seventeen wonderful years until its closing. The following year, she was honored to join the St. Paul the Apostle School community where she has taught first grade for eleven years. This marks her second year teaching 3rd grade-a dream always on her horizon!
Ms. Larkin is an honored recipient of the 2023 Joliet Area Great Teacher Award. She is a three-time recipient of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and a past Disney Teacher of the Year nominee. A graduate of University of St. Francis, she holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.S. in Teaching and Learning with an endorsement in English Language Learning. Throughout her career, she has served as a mentor to many first-year teachers and teaching candidates.
In addition to the school year, she conducts a Summer Bridge Activities tutoring program, which offers students fun opportunities to keep up on grade level skills. She is also an adjunct instructor at Joliet Junior College, working with students in the Department of Adult Education and Literacy.
Outside of school, she enjoys cheering her daughters on from the sports sidelines, traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Larkin believes in the value of Catholic education and is excited to pursue her 30th year as an educator in the Diocese of Joliet.
